The Big Give
20-27 April 2023
We are so grateful for the support we received during the Big Give Green Match Fund campaign. Together, the community helped raised over £10,000 towards the relocation of the #RESGarden and the Outreach and Education programme.
Relocating the garden
All organisations supported by Project Giving Back at RHS Chelsea Flower Show are asked to relocate their gardens after the show to ensure it has a lasting legacy. We wanted ours to provide a lasting impact into insect science, and to be a peaceful green space in an urban environment where the community can relax, and also engage in ecological study.
Despite their crucial role in ecosystems across the planet, insect conservation and study is often undervalued when compared with mammal and bird science. The RES Garden is to be relocated to IQL Stratford and will be a place for ongoing education, engagement, and research into the role that urban green spaces, including brownfield sites, have in providing food and habitat for the creatures that all life on our planet relies on.

#RESGarden
The Royal Entomological Society is a non-profit organisation and relies on publishing, membership and donations to pursue its support of scientific, educational, ecological and entomological causes.
We plan to relocate the RES garden to central London with a new education program providing a long-term opportunity for insect study as part of our planned UK network of gardens. The garden will show how remarkable and valuable insects are with visible insect science taking place in the unique – insect eye inspired – outdoor laboratory.
Much like the diversity of insects, there are many ways to support us and our work – your contribution, no matter how big or small, makes a huge impact and enables us to continue to enrich the world with insect science.
